We started Shalgam Records in 2013 because the music we loved in Istanbul needed a place to live.

We release alternative rock, strange pop, electronic experiments, and jazz. We don't care about what is popular right now. We care about what will still sound good in ten years.

The label is run by Ulaş Şalgam. In 2011, she started booking shows and taking bands on tour. She learned how to take care of artists by carrying their gear, planning their routes, and standing with them in empty venues and crowded clubs. That is still how we run the label today. We know the road, so we know how to build a home.
